St Albans 1 - 1 SSE

This has truly been a very proud moment for all at SSE.

On Wednesday 2017/09/13, SSE played its first competitive game against a very good St Albans first team. The match was played in good spirit with both teams showing moments of brilliance. SSE opened the scoring in the opening minutes of the game through Kutlwano Nakana. Things were tied later on as SSE let in a sloppy goal to end the tie at 1-1.

Thanks to St Albans for being top hosts and their boys for being professional in their sporting conduct.

Onwards and upwards for SSE!

Regards,
Mathieu Cardoso
Head Coach of SSE

New term, New opportunity

"Football is Life"

At SSE we believe this. Life is mirrored on the pitch, what you put in is what you get out. As with anything, hard work is required to better one's self - this is the same for life on the field and life off of it. SSE gives individuals the opportunity to put in the hard yards, to better themselves; this is why we offer a year-round service ~ we strive for excellence.

We are looking forward to the new term. Practice will continue as normal for all ages, boys and girls, on Mondays and Wednesdays.

This is an opportunity to improve your sporting precision and only you are in control in your quest to better yourself.

See you at training!

A new term, a new opportunity to play soccer!

We hope you've all had a fantastic holiday. SSE are firm believers of constructive time-off - so when it is holiday time, we too like to kick-back and leave the boots on the shelves for awhile. This way we come back more determined and ready for the challenges ahead. May this term be an opportunity for you to put those boots back on, but also to open those books and focus on the academic side of life too.

The 2nd term marks the start of the SSE Academy at CBC Mount Edmund. If you have handed in forms, you would've received an email entailing the next steps in the application process - however if you have not received this email, please feel free to attend the first practices so that we may sort any outstanding issues from there.

The initial practice times are as follows:

Mondays - 16;00 to 17:20
Wednesdays - 16:00 to 17:20

Please note that these times are subject to change. We will also be using the initial practices to sort out any issues that may arise so that we may cater for you all with regards to time and practice days. The first practice will be on the 1st of May - everyone will be expected to be there so that we may sort the groups, and find fixed days and times that will work for all parties.

Thank you for your ongoing support and interest. SSE will only grow from here.

Much love and a happy term,
SSE

Academics and Soccer

When venturing into the world of professional sport, a parent always has the concern of what it would mean for their Child's academic focus.

Rightly so. At CBC, the focus on Academic excellence never shifts. It is always a priority. This will never change and has always been at the forefront of our plans when putting together our Academy idea. One of SSE's key foundations lies in the focus on pupil Academic performance as well as on the pitch performance. We believe that the one cannot exist without the other. It has been closely studied that a combination of academics and physical activity is only beneficial to a child.

With this, SSE aim to keep a tight relationship to what a pupil is achieving in the class: not only in terms of academics but also behavioral terms as well. All Academy prospects will need to be made aware of this, as SSE will follow up and work with the College to monitor performances in the classroom. A player may not participate in the Academy if there are concerns in the classroom. Until this changes it will remain that way. Your child is the most important aspect of the Academy and has been so since the birth of the idea. This is a partnership, not just between CBC and SSE, but also with you, the parent.

Girls! This is an opportunity for you as well. SSE will have a number of women sides due to overwhelming feedback from many pupils at CBC. We are excited as this opportunity and look forward to working with you all.

In terms of the flyers that have been distributed: these need to be returned as soon as possible. Once we have received these flyers your child will receive a formal application/indemnity form with the full process to follow.

We wish you a spectacular sporting week.

SSE and CBC Mount Edmund

"We strive for perfection and if we fail, we might just have to settle for excellence." - Sir Matt Busby

CBC Mount Edmund And Sports School of Excellence - Soccer Institute, have recently agreed to go into partnership to strive for a better soccer environment at school level, in particular, within the walls of CBC. We've been engaging in talks over the past few weeks, both parties looking out for the best interests of the College, and most importantly, the interests of the Pupil. Thus, the idea of a school academy came to be, and it is with great excitement that we look towards 2017.

The Academy will officially start in the beginning of the second term. Practices will be held twice a week, with tournaments, friendlies and clinics happening on select weekends. The objective for 2017 is to raise the funds to buy SAB Regional League status for 2018. This will put us in a position to compete at a professional level and place CBC/SSE in new waters of opportunity. A full time Academy will take place from 2018, with the school acting as a feeder system into this league. This will be a fantastic opportunity for players, and coaches alike, who are looking to pursue a career in soccer.

If you are looking at giving professional soccer a shot, this is the way to go.

We would love you all to be on board.

Until next time,
SSE
